Bravery, cleverness, and
expert swimming make pirates Dave, Nell,
and Giles great pirates. Pirate Paul is
eager, but there’s not much for him to do
because he’s so small. When his mates go
ashore to search for treasure, Paul has to
stay behind. He does little tasks to spiff
up their pirate ship until he realizes his
friends have been gone a very long time. A
mighty roar alerts Paul that Dave, Nell,
and Giles are in serious trouble and
without a second thought he sets in motion
a plan to save them.
This book includes a pirate hat, eye
patch, and treasure so young pirates can
act out this rhyming adventure. Paul’s
ingenious plan proves that sometimes
thinking of a solution may be the best way
to resolve a problem. His willingness to
go the extra mile may even nudge young
pirates into helping out around their own
pirate environs. The large and colorful
illustrations draw readers’ eyes to each
page, while the boldface words signal when
to shout. The Best Pirate is great
fun for young pirates and will bring
smiles to their parents as they read this
tale of how a small pirate makes a big
difference.
